Payhawk turns to Flagright as spend crime risks converge

Flagright

Payhawk has selected Flagright to extend fraud prevention and anti money laundering oversight across its platform.

The partnership addresses a growing challenge for finance teams: as spending activity spreads across cards, accounts, suppliers, entities, currencies, and markets, fraud and AML functions need one consistent method to flag suspicious behaviour, screen relevant parties, and act on risk without holding up legitimate corporate spend.

Under the deployment, Flagright will monitor approved card, account, and payment activity in real time through configurable controls, and will screen customers and relevant counterparties against sanctions, politically exposed persons, and other applicable watchlists.

The system is designed to adapt its monitoring logic as Payhawk’s entities, products, markets, and transaction patterns evolve, while supporting consistent review and escalation across both fraud and AML operations. It will also maintain clear, audit ready records of decisions taken.

Payhawk positions itself as an enterprise operating layer for global corporate spend, consolidating cards, expenses, travel, payables, procurement, payments, and controls into a single system for finance teams operating across multiple markets and currencies. Flagright, meanwhile, describes its offering as a real time, configurable compliance layer built to connect signals and controls that would otherwise sit in separate systems, spanning transaction monitoring, watchlist screening, and case management.

Payhawk group chief compliance officer Thibaud Catry said, “Fraud and AML risk increasingly intersect across cards, accounts, suppliers, and payments. In most finance stacks those controls sit in separate systems. With Flagright, we now monitor every payment type against the same logic, across every market we operate in, as Payhawk continues to scale.”

Flagright co-founder and CEO Baran Özkan said, “Payhawk has built an enterprise operating layer for global corporate spend. Protecting that environment requires fraud prevention and AML compliance to work from connected signals and controls, rather than separate systems. Flagright gives Payhawk a real time, configurable financial crime compliance layer that can evolve across cards, accounts, suppliers, entities, and payment activity.”
