AXA, the global insurance group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Publicis Sapient, a technology company specialising in enterprise AI platforms and services, to accelerate the insurer’s ongoing artificial intelligence transformation.
The tie-up centres on the continued build-out of AXA’s “Global AI Hub”, an initiative designed to scale AI agents safely, securely and responsibly across the group’s operations. By giving AXA entities shared, global and standardised foundations for AI agents, the hub aims to cut both time-to-market and costs, freeing individual business units to concentrate on generating commercial value rather than building their own AI infrastructure from scratch.
The partnership pairs AXA’s expertise in insurance, artificial intelligence and responsible AI practices with Publicis Sapient’s specialist AI talent and enterprise engineering capabilities. Together, the two companies intend to speed up deployment of the group-wide, vendor-agnostic hub, the first version of which went live in July and is already being used by five AXA entities.
The platform is built to help AI projects move from concept into production more efficiently, while supporting technology independence and embedding governance, FinOps, SafetyOps, security, compliance and human oversight across the entire AI lifecycle. It is also intended to improve how the group allocates and orchestrates AI capabilities and large language models across different use cases in a cost-effective way.
AXA business units in Germany, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and AXA XL are currently building use cases through the hub, covering areas including motor claims automation, customer email processing and enterprise knowledge management.
The company described the hub as another milestone in its broader ambition to industrialise AI across the group, adding that it plans to keep strengthening its AI-driven capabilities and responsible AI practices, with human oversight maintained over all business-critical decisions.
AXA group chief technology & AI officer and chief executive officer of AXA Group Operations Matthieu Caillat said, “Artificial intelligence represents a unique opportunity to enhance our innovation capabilities, support our employees and better serve our customers. As we continue to scale AI across the Group, our priority is to combine safe and efficient artificial intelligence, strong governance and practical business applications that create lasting value.
“Publicis Sapient brings together specialist AI expertise, enterprise AI solutions and global experience that will help us accelerate AI adoption consistently across our organization, while maintaining the governance and flexibility required in a highly regulated business.”
Publicis Sapient head of financial services EMEA & APAC David Murphy said, “Enterprise AI delivers the greatest value when it combines deep industry expertise with strong engineering foundations. We are excited to partner with AXA to establish the enterprise AI capabilities, engineering approaches and the necessary governance to accelerate AI adoption securely and consistently across the Group in support of AXA’s long-term AI ambitions.”
