Provident Bank, a New Jersey-based lender with more than $25bn in assets, has moved its 135 branches onto MANTL for business and retail account opening, bringing its digital and in-person onboarding onto one platform.
The rollout, announced by Alkami Technology, means customers can now open accounts through the same system whether they apply online or visit a branch. More than 800 Provident employees are using MANTL to onboard customers in person, with the bank aiming to reduce the need for staff to switch between separate systems and give them more time to focus on customer relationships.
The platform supports a wide range of products, from minor accounts and individual retirement accounts (IRAs) to more complex products such as personal and business fiduciary accounts, revocable and irrevocable trusts, estate accounts and escrow accounts. Bringing these products onto standardised workflows is designed to give customers and employees a more consistent account opening experience.
Provident also reviewed its existing account opening processes as part of the rollout rather than simply transferring them to new technology. The bank worked with MANTL to streamline workflows, while the two companies built a tailored training environment and ran enablement programmes to support staff adoption.
The deployment was carried out alongside Provident’s conversion to a new core banking system, putting two major technology projects into operation at the same time.
Alkami provides digital sales and service technology to US banks and credit unions, covering onboarding, digital banking, data and marketing capabilities. Its MANTL platform is focused on account opening, helping financial institutions connect digital and branch channels through standardised onboarding workflows.
Provident Bank was founded in Jersey City in 1839 and is owned by Provident Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: PFS). The bank reported assets of $25.66bn as of 30 June 2026 and serves businesses and consumers through branches across New Jersey and parts of New York and Pennsylvania, as well as through mobile and online banking and a customer contact centre.
Provident Bank senior vice president and digital channels director Scott Hurlbert said, “Our partnership with MANTL is built on a shared vision and a strong level of trust in how technology can enhance the customer experience. By bringing our digital and branch account opening capabilities together on one Platform, we’re creating a competitive advantage for Provident while making the experience simpler and more consistent for both our customers and our team members.”
Alkami chief product officer Benjamin Conant added, “Provident Bank took a team member- and customer-first approach to modernizing account opening. By unifying business and retail account openings online and across 135 branches with MANTL, Provident Bank is giving more than 800 team members a simpler, more consistent way to serve applicants.”
The rollout comes as in-branch account opening gains momentum across MANTL’s customer base. In 2026, the branch channel became its fastest-growing source of volume, with close to 90,000 applications booked in a single month.
