Harmonic Security bags $50m as boards demand AI proof

Harmonic Security, a platform that secures how employees use AI at work, has closed a $50m Series B round as enterprises come under pressure to show that staff use of AI tools is both controlled and productive.

Crosspoint Capital Partners led the investment, and existing backers also took part. The deal lifts the company’s total capital raised to $76m, and the new money is earmarked for faster growth.

Harmonic now protects AI activity for millions of employees across more than 100 organisations, some of which rank among the biggest enterprises globally.

The firm has also added Climb and Distology as distribution partners. Its headcount has passed 90 across the US and UK, and it plans to direct fresh funding into engineering and go-to-market teams in both markets.

Over the last year, the company has pushed its coverage past browser-based AI monitoring into desktop AI applications and agentic workflows, bringing all three under one platform. This wider reach targets the points where risks such as personal-account use and leaks of sensitive data typically emerge.

The business claims to be the only platform able to classify each AI task, uncover the purpose behind it and govern it as it happens. Its edge rests on context: customers can sort every task into categories, spot new use cases as they appear and apply controls that add little friction for staff.

This capability runs on custom small language models that assess each interaction within milliseconds, distinguishing, for example, an engineer citing a database schema from a user exposing live login details. The same engine drives a Usage Intelligence layer, which tells leadership which AI use cases generate value, which staff have discovered quicker ways of working, and where to direct investment rather than impose restrictions.

Harmonic has also expanded through platforms enterprises already rely on. Cisco listed it among the ecosystem integrations for the new Agent Builder within Cisco Cloud Control, unveiled at Cisco Live, with the link running over Model Context Protocol. The firm has separately connected to Claude’s Compliance API, letting security teams view Claude Platform activity logs, plus conversation content for Claude Enterprise customers, across deployments hosted by Anthropic.

Harmonic Security CEO and co-founder Alastair Paterson said, “Every board I talk to is asking two questions: how do we reduce the risk of AI use, and are we getting value? Most vendors struggle to answer the first, yet we address both. From the very start, we doubled-down on our custom small language models, which means we can benefit from a unique insight into enterprise AI use.”

Paterson added, “We’ve got some real momentum, and I know we’re just getting started. This round means we get to build that out faster and continue rapidly responding to the AI landscape shifts.”
