Cognitive Credit, a provider of corporate credit data, analytics and AI tools, has closed a $40m strategic growth investment as institutional investors push for verifiable data to underpin AI-driven credit analysis.
Summit Partners led the round, and existing backer ETFS Capital also took part. Chris Bon, a partner at Summit Partners, has taken a seat on the Cognitive Credit board of directors. The capital will fund the company’s commercial push in the US and the development of its next product generation.
Two launches sit at the centre of that roadmap. DealConnect, due imminently, will let users pull detailed credit models on demand for private issuers whose reporting is shared through secure data rooms.
The company is also preparing to deploy agentic credit analysis, which layers advanced AI over its verified data to automate in-depth fundamental research. Cognitive Credit plans to keep extending its issuer coverage into additional credit markets.
The firm operates a web application that supports analysts at each stage of credit research, pairing verified data with analytics and generative AI built for the credit domain. Its proprietary dataset, derived from the analysis of hundreds of thousands of financial reports, gives users audit-grade credit models and primary reporting libraries for more than 3,500 corporate bond and loan issuers across the US, Europe and emerging markets.
Clients can also access the data through a REST API, an Excel add-in or the company’s Claude connector, with every output traceable to its source.
Adoption has climbed sharply. More than 80% of the 25 largest asset managers by AUM and all of the top 10 investment banks on global debt league tables now use the platform. Over three years, active users have risen by 240% and issuer coverage has more than doubled.
The raise lands as corporate credit swells in scale and complexity. According to the OECD’s Global Debt Report 2026, close to $60 trillion in corporate bonds and syndicated loans are outstanding worldwide, and nearly $14 trillion was raised in 2025.
Because much of the fundamental data behind credit risk is unstructured or disclosed privately to lenders and investors, general-purpose AI models struggle to reach or verify it, fuelling demand for trusted datasets.
Cognitive Credit CEO and founder Robert Slater said, “Our current momentum validates everything we have been building at Cognitive Credit since day one – structured data, specialist AI, and workflow automation to solve the credit market’s biggest challenges. Demand for credit-specialist technology will continue to accelerate from here, and we are pleased to partner with Summit Partners on our next phase of growth.
“With the imminent launch of DealConnect, ongoing innovation in our AI deployments, and many additional capabilities planned for 2027, we’re offering credit teams the highest quality data and analytics they require for differentiated analysis and high impact decision-making.”
