Fintech Sandbox welcomes new data partners to empower startups worldwide

In an exciting development for early-stage FinTech startups globally, Fintech Sandbox has announced a significant expansion of its data access offerings.

The nonprofit organization, dedicated to fostering innovation in the financial technology sector, is welcoming two new data partners into its fold—MT Newswires and Polygon. This expansion also includes the addition of new datasets from six of its existing partners, including Benzinga, Dow Jones, FactSet, Moody’s, Nasdaq Data Link, and Plaid, enhancing the support provided to startups under its Data Access Residency program.

Fintech Sandbox, which was founded a decade ago, aims to address the challenges of high data costs and accessibility for FinTech startups. Kelly Fryer, the Executive Director of Fintech Sandbox, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnerships and gratitude towards the ongoing support from existing partners. “We are extremely excited to welcome our new data partners, and thankful to our existing partners, who support us in our efforts. Together, we are driving forward financial innovation, expanding data access, providing critical product infrastructure and establishing a community of leading entrepreneurs, which propels the industry and economy forward.”

The addition of MT Newswires and Polygon brings the total number of dedicated data partners to 41. These partners collectively offer their premium datasets for free to startups participating in the Data Access Residency, thereby powering cutting-edge financial innovations.

Brooks McFeely, Founder and CEO of MT Newswires, highlighted the importance of providing real-time, multi-asset-class news to aid startups in developing next-generation applications and solutions. Similarly, Jack Bell, Head of Business Development at Polygon, emphasized their commitment to simplifying access and removing barriers for the creation of forward-thinking technologies.

MT Newswires will provide startups access to its Live Briefs Investor US & Canada dataset, covering thousands of listed securities and events across 90 news categories. This service aims to keep investors informed of breaking news affecting their portfolios. Polygon, on the other hand, will offer data related to US equities, options, indices, and currencies, including real-time values and historical information.

Since its inception in 2014, Fintech Sandbox has been instrumental in advancing financial innovation by offering free access to data, educational resources, and world-class resources to promising FinTech entrepreneurs. In 2023 alone, the organization welcomed 51 new startups from across four continents, facilitated over 145 connections between its startups and data partners, and expanded its reach to three new countries: Albania, Ghana, and Kuwait. Fintech Sandbox continues to build a global community of entrepreneurs, industry executives, and investors dedicated to innovating within the FinTech industry.
