Mollie, one of Europe’s fastest-growing payment service providers, has launched its own Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, a new AI-enabling tool designed to simplify integration for merchants.
The new solution enables businesses to connect Mollie’s capabilities to their AI applications, easing workflow automation and improving operational efficiency, according to FF News.
The aim of the MCP Server is to allow merchants to better harness AI within their operations without requiring extensive technical knowledge. By offering a natural language interface for key payment functions, Mollie is providing an accessible way for businesses to adopt AI tools and streamline operations.
Mollie offers payment services to over 130,000 businesses across Europe and is recognised for its developer-friendly API, simple onboarding, and powerful tools that allow merchants to build efficient payment experiences. The introduction of the MCP Server further enhances Mollie’s suite of services by opening up AI integration and automation.
The new server allows AI clients to access Mollie’s APIs with minimal technical effort. Users can now use natural language to perform actions like generating payment links, checking payment statuses, or managing customer profiles and recurring mandates. This reduces the complexity of development and speeds up deployment for businesses looking to automate.
In future, the MCP Server will also support the creation of AI agents that plug directly into the Mollie ecosystem. This opens doors to capabilities beyond core payments, including invoicing, subscription management and real-time settlement insights. By adopting the MCP Server early, merchants can future-proof their payment stacks and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
Mollie continues to invest in advanced technologies to support merchant growth. The MCP Server represents its broader vision for enabling intelligent automation and building a robust infrastructure that empowers merchants to innovate.
Mollie CEO Koen Köppen said, “We see AI not just as a trend, but as a powerful enabler for our merchants. The launch of our MCP Server is a natural step forward — helping merchants integrate, automate, and innovate more easily using AI. It’s an exciting development that reinforces our commitment to staying ahead of the curve and building tools that deliver real value.”
Developer Benjamin Mahmood, who tested the beta version, added, “I must say it’s amazing to be able to talk to Mollie in natural language. It feels intuitive – and I see huge potential for this in customer support, automation, and AI-powered chatbots in future. This kind of integration could really change how merchants interact with their payment tools.”
