Wonder secures $12m venture debt from HSBC to fuel Asia Pacific growth

Wonder, a Hong Kong-based FinTech and payments platform for merchants across Asia Pacific, has secured new venture debt financing to support its regional growth, product development and instant settlement capabilities.

The company has raised $12m in multi-year venture debt from HSBC Innovation Banking in Hong Kong. The capital will be used to accelerate Wonder’s expansion across the Asia Pacific region, enhance its T+0 instant settlement offering and continue developing its payments and FinTech products.

The venture debt provides Wonder with additional growth capital as it scales its operations and invests further in its full-stack omni-channel payments platform. The platform serves a wide range of customers, including SMEs, insurers, telecommunication companies, multinational corporations, consumer retailers, transportation providers and public sector organisations.

The transaction represents a significant milestone for Wonder in 2025. Over the past year, the company has expanded its gross payment volume, grown its merchant base, entered new industry verticals and broadened its product offerings. Looking ahead, Wonder aims to establish itself as a FinTech and payments powerhouse across Asia Pacific, targeting markets beyond Hong Kong including Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan and Macau.

Wonder operates as a payments and FinTech platform designed to help merchants of all sizes pay and get paid with ease. The company positions itself as Hong Kong’s first full-stack omni-channel payments platform, enabling merchants to complete digital KYC onboarding in minutes, open accounts, accept payments, make digital payments and manage transactions through a single platform.

Wonder founder and CEO Jason Ngan said, “We are thrilled to announce our USD 12 million venture debt from HSBC. This funding will accelerate our expansion across the Asia Pacific, enabling us to bring enterprise-grade payment and fintech products to businesses of all sizes. As we embark on this exciting journey with HSBC’s financing support, we remain committed to innovation and empowering businesses to thrive in a digital economy, particularly with enabling SMEs to access T+0 instant settlements and improve cash flow efficiencies across the Asia Pacific Region. Together, we are well positioned to redefine the future of payments.”

Jonathan Yip, head of innovation banking, Asia, at HSBC said, “We are pleased to support pioneering fintech innovators like Wonder. By leveraging our specialist expertise and comprehensive financial solutions, HSBC Innovation Banking empowers Wonder to deliver an innovative platform for businesses of all sizes to streamline payment management.
