Navan, a global AI-powered business travel and expense platform, has unveiled a suite of new AI-driven features at Navigate, its first-ever user conference, aimed at significantly boosting productivity for finance teams and business travellers alike.
The announcement centres on four new capabilities: two AI-powered admin companions, one for travel and one for expense management, alongside a conversational trip booking tool called Book with AI and a video-based expense submission feature. All four are currently in beta and scheduled to roll out to customers in the near future.
The Travel Admin Companion allows businesses to ask plain-language questions via chat to surface savings opportunities, identify cost drivers, and benchmark spending against peers. The tool is intended to replace lengthy manual analysis and lays the groundwork for Navan’s agentic AI ecosystem, which may eventually allow admins to take programme-wide action directly from the chat interface, such as blocking travel to specific destinations, adjusting policies, or running simulations.
Meanwhile, the Expense Admin Companion is designed to help finance teams resolve flagged spend more quickly by analysing anomalies, recommending next steps, and drafting contextual messages to employees. While around 73% of expenses on the platform are already fully automated and approved without human intervention, the new companion targets the remaining 27% flagged for missing details or suspicious activity.
Book with AI enables travellers to arrange trips through a simple conversational prompt, drawing on Navan’s global inventory of flights from more than 600 airlines and 2.5 million hotels to surface personalised, policy-compliant options. The tool is built directly into Navan’s core infrastructure, enabling full booking and fulfilment within the chat experience.
Separately, Expense with Video and Voice allows employees to record a short video of a receipt while verbally explaining the context. Navan’s AI then uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and voice transcription to auto-populate expense fields, requiring no manual typing.
Navan president Michael Sindicich said, “Our product philosophy has always been simple: it’s all about the users—all of them, all the time.
“This user obsession has enabled us to create one of the best platforms for both travelers and businesses. By building what we believe is the most advanced business travel infrastructure on the planet, we are now in position to accelerate our lead with new features that have the potential to deliver tons of additional value to customers, while legacy players remain stranded on outdated infrastructure that simply wasn’t built for the AI era.”
