Mollie, the Amsterdam-founded FinTech payments and financial services provider, has completed its acquisition of GoCardless, bringing together two businesses serving more than 350,000 companies across over 30 markets.
The combined group will be led by Mollie CEO Koen Köppen, while GoCardless will continue operating under its own name as “GoCardless, a Mollie company”, with co-founder Hiroki Takeuchi continuing to lead the business.
The acquisition brings together Mollie’s card and local payment capabilities with GoCardless’s bank payment infrastructure, including its Pay by Bank offering across 38 countries.
Mollie said the deal will help businesses reduce the complexity of managing financial operations across multiple providers, combining payments, accounts and business financing under one platform.
The companies said the combined offering will give businesses access to a broader payments suite covering cards, local payment methods and bank payments, while creating a more unified view of their financial operations.
Mollie has expanded across Europe with teams based in 12 EEA cities, supporting local payment preferences, languages and onboarding. GoCardless adds established operations across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Both companies bring growing financial strength to the combined group. Mollie became EBITDA profitable in 2024 and reported €147m in net revenue in 2025, while GoCardless recorded its first EBITDA-positive quarter in summer 2025.
Existing customers will see no immediate changes to their services, contacts or contracts. The companies said integration will take place gradually and will be guided by customer needs rather than a fixed timeline.
Mollie CEO Koen Köppen said, “This is more than two companies coming together. It genuinely expands what our customers can do. Two complementary businesses, the same DNA, and a shared mission to make money management effortless. Our customers now have one financial partner scaling with their ambition.”
Köppen added, “Our commitment to our customers is simple: we will always put their needs first. They now have a financial partner built to last. We are stronger together, and excited to shape the future of financial services for every business in Europe and beyond.”
GoCardless CEO Hiroki Takeuchi also commented, “This acquisition is a major milestone for GoCardless. When we started in 2011, everyone was building on cards and bank payments took a backseat. We backed our belief that it’s the best way to get paid – and spent fifteen years proving it.”
He added, “By combining with Mollie, we can now bring over a decade of bank payment expertise to a far wider range of businesses. Together, we’re building a platform that covers online and in-person payments, accounts and business financing, giving customers a single, stronger financial partner across Europe and beyond.”
