Jumio has extended its reusable identity solution, selfie.DONE, into the Asia-Pacific region, marking the latest step in the company’s global rollout of the technology.
The expansion follows earlier launches of selfie.DONE in Latin America and North America, and introduces a selfie-first onboarding experience for businesses operating across APAC.
The solution removes the need for every onboarding journey to begin with an identity document scan, instead allowing companies to recognise enrolled, trusted users through a global, consented identity graph. Document checks are reserved for cases where recognition cannot be confidently made, creating what Jumio describes as a fast lane for verified users while maintaining full verification for anyone flagged as higher risk.
According to the release, reusable identity has already shown a measurable effect on onboarding performance. Deployments of selfie.DONE have produced a 20% rise in verification completion rates, with as many as 60% of users completing identity checks through a selfie alone, without needing to submit a document.
Jumio’s approach differs from closed identity networks limited to partner businesses, instead relying on intelligence gathered across its entire customer base. Every verification feeds into the company’s global identity graph, which now holds more than 75m legitimate and fraudulent identities and expands by roughly 85,000 entries each day.
This shared intelligence is designed to let organisations across sectors, including financial services, crypto exchanges, gaming and sharing economy platforms, identify trusted users instantly regardless of where they first verified, while still applying fresh risk checks to each new transaction.
The announcement comes as businesses across the Asia-Pacific region look to adopt more flexible approaches to know-your-customer processes. Among them is Nimbura, a Malaysia-based fintech platform connecting consumers to online digital lending and financing solutions, which said it is tracking the rollout closely as it works to strengthen a trusted digital ecosystem for its users.
Jumio president and CPTO Bala Kumar said, “The launch of selfie.DONE in APAC marks a pivotal milestone in our mission to redefine digital trust. With the region’s dynamic, mobile-first economy, the demand for frictionless, high-assurance onboarding has never been higher.
“By introducing selfie.DONE to the region, we’re helping organizations shift from point-in-time verification to a model of continuous, contextual, and connected identity intelligence, enabling them to instantly recognize trusted users and turn identity verification from a friction point into a competitive advantage.”
Nimbura CEO for Asia Artjoms Borcovs said, “In digital lending, reducing onboarding friction can have a meaningful impact on customer conversion, provided security and compliance remain uncompromised. selfie.DONE has significant potential to simplify the experience for trusted customers through selfie-first verification, while continuing to assess identity risk in real time. We are looking forward to seeing how this approach can improve both customer experience and operational efficiency at Nimbura.”
