Elysian, an AI-native third-party administrator (TPA) and claims quality platform, has launched two tools designed to give insurers broader oversight of claims handling across entire portfolios.
The New York-based company has introduced Ely Audit and Ely Adjust, which approach claims quality from different points in the lifecycle. Ely Audit reviews claims files across a portfolio to identify risks and patterns, while Ely Adjust continuously monitors open claims and provides guidance while outcomes can still be influenced.
The launch targets a limitation in traditional claims audit programmes, which typically review only around 2% of a carrier’s claims. Elysian said this can leave insurers with limited visibility into the quality and consistency of handling across the wider book.
Ely Audit is designed to review an insurer’s full portfolio, including both open and closed claims, rather than relying on periodic sampling. The platform connects with existing claims technology and can analyse longer-tail claims containing thousands of documents.
The tool evaluates handling quality, compliance with agreed standards and the performance of external vendors. Rather than reducing the assessment to a pass-or-fail result, Elysian said it generates detailed evaluations covering risks, trends and opportunities across the portfolio.
The company said insurers can use these findings to identify problematic handling practices and address them before they affect additional claims.
Ely Adjust takes the same approach into live claims. The system reviews every open claim daily, identifying developments that may require attention and providing handlers with recommendations on potential next steps.
Adjusters remain responsible for decisions and actions, with Ely Adjust designed to recommend rather than automatically determine the outcome of a claim. The platform also provides explainable guidance and an optional supervisor review layer.
Elysian said the tools are built around its experience across admitted, non-admitted, personal and commercial insurance lines. Both products can be purchased separately or combined with the company’s existing TPA services.
The company provides AI-powered software alongside hands-on TPA services for complex and high-value claims, covering real-time claim review, automated audits, ongoing file monitoring and expert oversight.
Elysian was founded in 2024 by Grace Hanson, who has served as a chief claims officer five times. Its founding team has held chief claims officer positions at companies including Allied World, Hippo and Hiscox, with the group having collectively overseen hundreds of billions of dollars in reserves. The company’s technology and research team includes engineers and researchers with backgrounds at technology and FinTech firms.
Elysian has also been named one of five finalists in Guidewire’s InsurPitch Competition at ITC Vegas. Hanson is due to join a CB Insights panel focused on the Top 50 InsurTech Report, while Elysian will exhibit at booth #2505 in the Expo Hall.
Elysian founder and CEO Grace Hanson said, “Throughout my career, managing claims quality at scale has been a persistent challenge. Quality depends on several factors including customer experience, coverage accuracy, fraud mitigation, and the processes each claim requires. The insurance industry must move beyond dashboards that drown teams in unnecessary data and gain visibility into ‘the messy middle’ of complex claims. Ely Audit and Ely Adjust bring humans, AI, data, and partners together to improve claims quality, support stronger decisions, and mitigate risk.”
