HSBC has rolled out HSBCnio, a new digital offering that places its transaction banking services, data and intelligence directly inside the tools and workflows its clients already use.
The launch marks the next stage of the bank’s wider digital transformation. HSBCnio combines interactive channels, embedded connectivity and AI interfaces, so clients can choose how they engage with the bank. They can use web and mobile, link their own systems to HSBC, or draw on AI tools to retrieve banking information.
On web and mobile, a streamlined design offers a consistent view of cash positions, transactions, trade loans, FX and payment tracking, which helps users find information and spot items needing action. Embedded connectivity and APIs carry HSBC’s services and insights into client platforms. To make integration easier and speed up the move from development to live use, the bank is also providing API documentation, software development kits and a sandbox environment.
AI access is delivered through HSBC’s Model Context Protocol. This lets a client’s own AI tools query permitted account and transaction data, so teams can locate and understand banking information faster. The bank said this also lays the groundwork for further AI features within the platform, and lets clients bring AI into treasury processes while relying on trusted data, existing permissions and suitable controls.
HSBC pointed to the challenge facing treasury teams, who often work across many markets, systems and workflows while their banking access stays disjointed. The bank said HSBCnio tackles this by offering one simple, joined-up route to transaction banking, cutting operational friction, supporting automation and giving clients more timely data for decisions.
HSBC intends to add more transaction banking features and AI-enabled experiences over time, including ‘Ask HSBC’, an AI tool within HSBCnio that will help clients query and make sense of their banking data. The bank noted that availability and features may differ depending on market and client setup.
HSBC global head of client connectivity Amber Henderson-Smart said, “HSBCnio is designed around the way our clients run their businesses, giving them one digital solution with multiple ways to bank based on their preferences.
“The new solution brings transaction banking capabilities into the channels and workflows that clients use today, while helping them integrate AI through secure, permissioned access to their banking information.
“AI is core to the design of HSBCnio and supports HSBC’s ambition to build a bank for the future by embedding AI solutions that benefit our clients. We are investing in the technology and platforms needed to serve customers more effectively, enabling them to compare products more quickly and explore a wider range of options.”
