ROYC targets fragmented fund operations with new platform

ROYC Group, the London-based private markets structuring, fund operations and distribution specialist, has launched its in-house technology as a standalone product, giving fund managers a new option for replacing fragmented software, spreadsheets and manual processes.

ROYC Operating System (ROYC OS) is now available separately from ROYC Group’s wider service offering. The platform targets fund managers, banks and wealth managers operating across private markets and has already been used internally for several years. More than 20 fund managers have used ROYC OS to operate drawdown and evergreen vehicles, with distribution reaching more than 50 banks and wealth managers.

The platform is built around four modules covering different stages of the fund lifecycle. Investor Lifecycle & Reporting consolidates fund and asset data into reports that can be distributed automatically to investors. Fund Operations Workspace connects administrators, custodians and distributors through a single integration while reconciling data from different providers.

Fundraising Workspace is designed to replace fragmented data rooms and manual trackers, helping firms manage the process from initial investor interest through to signed commitments. Onboarding & Subscriptions collects KYC and AML information, allowing data to be reused for subsequent subscriptions while automating documentation and closings.

The modules operate from a shared investor data record, allowing clients to start with a single capability and add additional functionality without introducing another vendor or rebuilding integrations. ROYC says the platform can also operate alongside existing service providers or support the launch of new products.

At the centre of the platform is ROYC Core, which provides the underlying data and technology infrastructure. The system uses a single-tenant architecture, keeping each client’s data within a separate instance. ROYC Core is ISO 27001 certified and independently audited, while also supporting single sign-on, white-label portals, multiple languages and jurisdictions, and API-based integrations.

AI is already incorporated across ROYC OS. Current applications include extracting and pre-screening KYC documents, translating fundraising materials and answering reporting queries using natural language. Planned capabilities include support for investor due diligence questionnaires, anomaly detection across cash, valuations and subscriptions, advisor portfolio planning through Horizon AI and AI-assisted data migration.

The standalone launch builds on ROYC Group’s experience providing structuring, fund operations and distribution services across private markets. The company developed the technology to support its own fund operations before making it available to external clients.

ROYC has appointed Jamie Klein to lead the expansion of the standalone software business. Klein brings more than 17 years of experience in European financial markets, including a decade working across financial software and FinTech. His previous positions include head of GTM at Henon AI and sales director for private markets at S&P Global.

ROYC Group co-founder and CEO Octavian Popescu said, “We saw where legacy solutions were failing fund managers: spreadsheets and software assembled from separate tools bolted together over time, with no single record connecting a fund to its service providers and investors. We built ROYC OS the other way around: as one integrated modular system from day one, proven by running our internal fund operations before we offered it to third parties. Now fund managers can use the same data management backbone we built for our existing structures, with AI embedded directly into the operating layer and connected to the underlying fund and investor data. This enables AI to automate and augment daily workflows, while allowing the platform to be deployed in their own environments with their own chosen service providers.”

ROYC chief technology officer Peter Bergenwald added, “We didn’t want to build something that needed a new integration project every time a client added a piece. Everything runs on the same core. Turning on a new module is a configuration, not a rebuild.”
