Tereina, a Palo Alto-based financial services company backed by SAP, has launched a platform designed to let businesses automate payments across traditional banking and digital currency networks.
The company’s technology enables finance teams to initiate, optimise and execute payments from within the enterprise software they already use, with transactions able to settle in either fiat currencies or digital assets.
SAP customers can access the service through SAP Pay, which supports supplier, incoming, employee and intracompany payments. Other business applications can connect to Tereina’s payment infrastructure through APIs.
Tereina said the platform is designed to support a shift towards agentic payments, where AI agents can recommend and ultimately execute transactions on behalf of businesses.
The company is also positioning stablecoins as an alternative settlement method for corporate payments, citing their ability to facilitate 24/7 cross-border transfers. Its platform can route transactions across fiat and stablecoin networks based on the payment requirements, while giving suppliers and customers options over how they send and receive funds.
Tereina said its platform is intended to reduce the operational friction involved in corporate payments by automating payment routing and removing manual intervention. The company is targeting a 25% reduction in total cost of ownership compared with what businesses currently spend on average.
It also claims that automated payment processes can reduce the number of manual exception points in the payment journey, while allowing businesses to retain control over payment timing and approvals.
The company said its technology allows businesses to access digital currencies, starting with stablecoins and with tokenised deposits planned for a later stage, without requiring additional systems or specialist expertise.
Tereina also claims the platform can reduce settlement and reconciliation times, potentially allowing businesses to access working capital more quickly.
Tereina is led by CEO Cedric Bru and describes its model as “Embedded Payments to Ignite Commerce” (EPIC). The company provides payment infrastructure across traditional and digital rails, with agentic capabilities embedded into business applications.
Vladimir Fedoroff, CFO at Winncom Technologies, said, “Winncom has dealt with complicated payments and supplier processes throughout our company’s history. Tereina brings us the future of payments, simplifying those processes and making our money move exactly when we need it, smarter than ever.”
Cedric Bru, CEO at Tereina, said, “Total B2B payment volume is expected to exceed $200 trillion by 2030, fueling even faster global commerce. Businesses deserve the best of what’s possible today and what’s coming next. We’re proud to bring our customers best-in-class financial services alongside our technology, banking, issuing, and fintech partners – starting with the future of payments: embedded, digital, and agentic. Tereina is making that future available now.”
