UK FinTech investment on track to decrease 12% in 2022

• UK FinTech investment is set to reach £14bn in 2022 based on the rate of investment in the first half of the year, a slight 12% decrease from 2021 which set a new investment record with £15.8bn. FinTech deal activity in the country during H1 reached 287 transactions in total and is on track to reach 584 for the whole year which would be a 21% decrease from last year.
• FNZ, a wealth management platform, had the largest deal in the first half of 2022 raising a huge £1.03bn of capital which represented 15% of funding in H1 2022 for the UK. FNZ will use the money to accelerate its growth through increased research and development, as well as driving growth in markets it has recently entered, in particular North America.
• The WealthTech sector was the most dominant FinTech sector in the UK for the first half of 2022 with 57 deals, a 19% share of total deals. The Blockchain & Crypto sector was second with a 17% share and PayTech was third with a 14% share.
