Swedish retirement robo-advisor Pensionera has raised €1.2m after winning Optimizer Invest’s startup competition.

The deal values the company, which launched its retirement planning platform in July, at €8m.

Optimizer Invest will take a 14% share of the company as a result of the deal.

Founder Alexander Pärleros highlighted Optimizer Invest’s track record as a catalyst for the deal.

He told Swedish publication Di Digital, “They can help us expand globally and if we decide to an IPO, they can help us with that, just as they helped Catena. They also have a few members who will really help us grow.”

Pensionera claims more than 10,000 users 55% of which it says pay for access.

The company will use the capital to grow further in Sweden before expanding to new markets.
