N3K, an acting systems integrator and network management company has acquired compliance solution provider Cygna Labs.
Prior to this deal, Cygna Labs was majority owned by Blackbird Ventures, but N3K will now secure ownership of “key intellectual property in a market of strategic importance to the firm.” Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Following the close of the acquisition, Cygna Labs will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary of the N3K group. N3K CEO Rainer Maurer will replace Christian Ehrenthal as the chairman and CEO of Cygna. Instead Ehrenthal will take a position on the board of directors to ensure a smooth transition.
Maurer sees this acquisition as the next milestone in the evolution of both companies, with both having strong financial backing for further developments and team and portfolio growth.
Cygna Labs offers compliance solutions which improve transparency across Microsoft-hybrid IT infrastructures. Its technology aims to protect data wherever its located and deliver insights from the information to better understand user behaviour, system configuration, and data sensitivity.
Companies utilise Cygna Labs to detect and proactively mitigate data security threats, pass compliance audits, and improve the performances of its teams.
N3K CEO Rainer Maurer said, “The acquisition of Cygna Labs is a strategic move that provides us with an opportunity to own the IP behind one of our two main business units.
“This transaction enables us to expand our global customer base and in turn we are fully committed to increase R&D spending. I look forward to being able to deliver new, innovative technology in an area that has been a key pillar of our business for years.”
N3K is an acting systems integrator which supports companies throughout a project lifecycle through analysis, design, project planning, implementation and training.
