Data protection company Dathena secures funding round

RegTech 100 company Dathena, which offers data protection and privacy management, has closed a round of funding, on an undisclosed amount.

The round was led by MS&AD Ventures, with ‘strong’ participation also coming from existing backers CerraCap Ventures and Demetis.

With this new support, the company will look to increase its global deployment within new large companies, and ‘pursue several significant opportunities’ it said. The company is already looking to raise another funding round later in the year, which will further its scaling and establishment in the data protection space.

Dathena leverages natural language processing, machine learning and deep learning techniques to offer organisations a suite of tools to prevent data loss and improve data privacy compliance. It does this by identifying, classifying, and protecting sensitive information in an accurate manner, it claims.

Its solutions are used by financial services, healthcare, travel, and defense and security industries. Organisations can implement Dathena to discover their data, comply with data protection regulations, classify data, protect information, improve cloud access security, and monitor and track data leaks.

“We are delighted to welcome MS&AD amongst our investors and look forward to working with them closely. We are also grateful for and proud of CerraCap’s & Demetis’s continued trust and support” said Christopher Muffat, Dathena Founder & CEO.

Last year, Dathena was hand-selected by a panel of experts to feature in the annual RegTech 100, a list comprised of the top companies all financial institutions and leaders in the field need to know about.
