The verification platform VerifyMe Nigeria has launched a new identity verification and know your customer (KYC) product.
VerifyMe Nigeria claimed it was the first self-managed verification platform to integrate ID verification and KYC in the country, Punch reported.
Esigie Aguele, CEO of VerifyMe Nigeria, stated that the service works in real-time, leverages people’s employment histories and other key data points. It is also connected with the Nigerian Identity Management Commission, Bank Verification Number and Federal Road Safety Corps Driving Licences.
Nigeria has been at the centre of Africa’s FinTech investment boom. FinTech Global recently reported how the country – together with Kenya and South Africa – made up the majority of investment in the continent that has seen investment in the FinTech sector jump from $28.4m in 2015 to $175.3m in 2018.
And the past few weeks alone have been full of FinTech news from Nigeria. For instance, FinTech company Carbon publicly released its financials to showcase its strength when many other companies in the sector have previously neglected to do so.
