Delaware-based First Founder’s Accelerator is looking for its first cohort of FinTech founders to boost the state’s underrepresented minorities.
Garry Johnson, who had previously founded FinTech startup KnowCapp, which helps small-business owners raise capital, is also the founder behind First Founder’s Accelerator.
Just like Y Combinator, Plug and Play, Accenture’s FinTech Innovation Lab London and many other accelerators, First Founder’s Accelerator will run for 12 weeks, provide mentorship and support from experts in the field.
The mentors include industry experts from Microsoft, Samsung NEXT, JPMorgan Chase and Facebook.
What makes the accelerator stand out is that is looking to create a more diverse startup community. It is looking for underrepresented founders, including ethnic and racial minorities, people from the LGBTQ community, disabled entrepreneurs and women.
Moreover, it will be encouraging them to create diverse teams and to tackle problems faced by underserved communities.
Applications to the first batch closes on January 26.
