Digital lender Bank Zero could be ready for mid-year launch

South African challenger bank Bank Zero might be opening within the next few months, according to The Africa Report.

Lezanne Human, the executive director at the app-driven bank, told the publication that the FinTech firm is checking its systems, but that it aims to be ready by mid-2020.

The news comes after the lender obtained a provisional banking licence from the South African Reserve Bank in 2018 and the bank going live with a credit card int debit card.

There is a lot of interest in African FinTech. The continent’s industry has attracted over $1.1bn since 2014, according to FinTech Global’s data.
