BIO-key International, a biometric software and hardware solution developer, has secured a $30m contract to supply its authentication services to Technology Transfer Institute of Africa (TTI).
The solution will support the enrolment of users and the positive identification of individuals for a telecommunications company in Nigeria.
The technology supports more than 40 different scanners including most integrated fingerprint scanners found in laptops and tablets. If a client lacks the technology, they can use BIO-Key’s USB fingerprint scanner. Its authentication platform offers multi-factor security software.
BIO-key chairman and CEO Mike DePasquale said, “Recognizing the opportunity to bring cost-effective solutions to the African market, over the past six months, BIO-key opened a subsidiary in Africa and began actively pursuing several opportunities.
“Today’s announcement represents a major step in addressing the extensive and growing opportunity for large-scale identification, enterprise and consumer security in one of the largest and fastest growing economic regions of the world. Nigeria’s population is estimated at over 206 million, making it the seventh most populous country globally.”
