Dutch neobank bunq has introduced a new subscription option where customers can opt to have one new tree planted for every €100 they spend with any bunq card.
The bunq SuperGreen initiative is the continuation of bunq’s Green Card, which was launched in December and where the bank committed to plant a tree for every €100 spent with the card. The project has already led to over 100,000 trees having been planted.
The SuperGreen option is the result of a poll among the challenger bank’s community where 81% of the users wanted the option to choose if a tree would be planted, no matter what bunq card they used.
Starting on Thursday April 2, both bunq Premium as well as bunq Business users can simply upgrade their subscription to bunq Premium SuperGreen and bunq Business SuperGreen and start planting trees for every card payment they make. Inside the app, they can keep track of the number of trees they planted in real-time.
“At bunq we want to make green easy,” said Ali Niknam, CEO and founder of bunq. “That’s why we’re the only bank in the world that enables you to become completely CO2 free in less than two years. We’re extremely excited to announce that, starting today, our users can plant trees with every card payment they make.”
