FinTech startup Keyrock has secured €4.3m in a funding round co-led by SIX Fintech Ventures and MiddleGame Ventures.
Existing backers Volta Ventures, Seeder Fund and TNN Patrimony returned for this round too, according to Tech EU.
The Brussels-based venture will use the cash injection to fund its ongoing efforts to build efficient markets for digital assets.
“The world of cryptos and digital assets has huge potential,” Andreas Iten, head of ventures at SIX Fintech Ventures, told Tech EU. “Yet the segment is very fragmented with several digital exchanges, a lot of issuers and no regulated infrastructure, resulting in low liquidity. This is a huge obstacle for the adoption of digital assets – especially by institutional players.â€
Keyrock aims to tackle this challenge with a blockchain infrastructure and system that provides liquidity to markets with a low marginal cost.
The news comes after the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector has enjoyed renewed interest from investors recently with the share of deals under $1m reached a four-year high in the first six months of 2020, according to FinTech Global’s research.
