dacadoo has been named “Innovator of the Year” by MongoDB

dacadoo, a digital transformation company for the healthcare space, has been awarded “Innovator of the Year” and “Data for Good” by MongoDB.

MongoDB Innovation Awards is an annual ceremony which honours innovative uses of data and the creativity of professionals that are expanding the limits of technology.

Submissions are reviewed by a panel of industry experts and winners are picked for a variety of categories. The main award is the “Innovator of the Year.”

Switzerland-headquartered dacadoo offers a mobile-first health platform which helps people live healthier and be more active. It achieves this through motivational techniques from behavioural science, online games and social networks, as well as AI and automated coaching.

Insurance firms can leverage the information from dacadoo to improve their risk assessments and provide consumers with policies that better meet their lifestyle. Those with healthier lifestyle habits are rewarded with lower premiums.

dacadoo president and CEO Peter Ohnemus said, “We are humbled to win the 2020 MongoDB Innovator of the Year Award and the Data for Good Award. It really means a lot to me and the whole dacadoo team that our hard work is recognised by an organisation that we regard so highly!”

The 2020 “Innovator of the Year” award is picked out of all other category winners and is based on who “exemplifies to be carrying out the world’s most innovative projects in data.”

The “Data for Good” award is given to companies tackling issues affecting society and the planet and helping to improve the world.

MongoDB CEO Dev Ittycheria said, “We are thrilled to honour dacadoo with not one but two MongoDB Innovation awards.

“The company’s Health Score Engagement Platform represents a major innovation in healthcare, helping people make informed decisions about the risk factors that contribute to chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart disease. They are just getting started with MongoDB and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

Earlier in the year, finance management company Manulife picked dacadoo to strengthen its digital offerings in Asia. The companies said that by working together and using behavioural science, online coaching functions and curated wellness content, they will be able enrich ManulifeMOVE’s offering.

Also this year, Brazilian insurer Seguros Unimed teamed up with dacadoo to provide digital health and wellness services to its 18 million beneficiaries and 120’000 physicians across the country.
