American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover have already signed up 10,000 US merchants since launching the Click to Pay standard in the US in 2019 and is now expanding the scheme across the world.
The roll out is planned in regions such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and the UK.
“Clicking to pay with Visa is designed to be as easy and consistent an experience as when you tap to pay in a physical store,” said Chris Clark, regional president in Asia Pacific at Visa. “When you see the click to pay icon, you know you can pay online with any card and your transaction will be quick, seamless and secure. This is in keeping with Visa’s strategy to enable open, interoperable payments for consumers and businesses in all the places they choose to shop.”
