The EU’s securities markets regulator has postponed the applicability date of the updated European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) validation rules to March 8, 2021.
The changes was originally supposed to be implemented on February 1.
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) stated that the amended rules, which were published by the regulator in September this year, will apply five weeks later than originally planned due to technical issues related to their implementation in light of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
EMIR regulates the trade of over-the-counter derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories.
