Latvia-based neobank Zelf closes pre-seed round

Zelf, a neobank based in Latvia that enables users to send money through a messenger, has reportedly closed its pre-seed round on $2m.

This capital will enable the FinTech to grow its services in Spain, Germany, Poland and Italy, as well as launch in the US and UK, according to a report from Verdict.

3VC served as the lead investor, with commitments also coming from Seed X and Hard Yaka. There were also a number of angel investors, including ICQ co-founder Yair Goldfinger and Outrun Ventures founding partner Chris Adelsbach.

Zelf enables consumers to easily send money to people through instant messenger apps, without fees. Users can also use Zelf to check their balance, monitor account statements, set spending limits, track and send reminders for unpaid invoices and more.

Earlier in the week, challenger bank Stori closed a $32m funding round to bring credit card payments to the masses in Mexico.
