Digital insurer Cover Genius has teamed up with European airline Ryanair to offer its customers comprehensive travel protection, integrated directly into the booking flow for a more convenient experience.
The partnership will see XCover, Cover Genius’ award-winning global distribution platform, integrated into Ryanair’s suite of travel insurance options. This will allow Ryanair’s customers the option to purchase a selection of protection products tailored to their itinerary.
Cover Genius, which reportedly raised £8.3m in its latest funding round earlier this year, following a £52.8m Series C round, helps consumers to buy insurance at the point they need it. Its services are used within retail, payments, logistics, mobility, auto, travel, property, business services and the gig economy.
This partnership follows a survey, conducted by Momentive.ai and commissioned by Cover Genius, of 4,638 travellers from EMEA countries including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Sweden, France, Italy, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates. The survey revealed that the majority of travellers (42%) would prefer to purchase embedded travel protection directly from travel providers and agents with the primary driver being convenience. In fact, of the travellers who previously purchased travel protection from a travel provider, 71% would do so again.
Greg O’Gorman, Ryanair’s director of ancillary revenue, said, “We are delighted to partner with Cover Genius to offer our growing network of customers an even more convenient and comprehensive suite of travel insurance options.”
