- Chime, a challenger bank that provides fee-free mobile banking services, was the most well-funded FinTech company in the US as of 23rd May 2022. Chime raised $750m in their latest Series G funding round which brought their total funding to $2.3bn and puts their valuation at a staggering $25bn, which makes it the 5th highest valued FinTech company globally. Chime’s customer base grew 50% during the pandemic and in 2021 stood at a total of 12m.
- Marketplace Lending was the most dominant sector, accounting for 20% of the companies on the map. The total transaction value of the alternative lending segment in the US is projected to reach an enormous $8.7bn in 2022 with a CAGR from 2022-2026 of 0.68%.
