Global ESG funding expected to more than double in 2022

• ESG funding is expected to set a new record in 2022 with total investment projected to reach $2.6bn based on the investment pace recorded in the opening quarter of the year. Further, deal activity also had a strong start in Q1 hitting 27 transaction, with total funding rounds projected to increase by 39% in 2022.
• The United Kingdom was the home to the highest number of ESG deals in Q1 2022 with ten transactions in total, nearly two-thirds of ESG deals globally during the period. The United Kingdom recently passed new ESG regulations in January 2022, which requires limited companies to provide a sustainability information statement. This report includes a description of environmental risks identified as impacting a company’s operations and a company’s governance strategy for assessing and managing environmental risk. The United States was the second most active ESG country in Q1 2022 with seven deals in total.
