CMT launches telematic driver engagement platform

Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), a telematics service provider, has launched a driver engagement platform called DriveWell Messaging, designed to keep drivers engaged throughout the customer lifecycle.

According to CMT, customer engagement is the foundation of making roads safer and building a healthy telematics programme. The company’s own research has found that highly engaged drivers are 65% safer on the road than unengaged drivers, and 57% less distracted. Moreover, they are 160% more likely to be retained as customers.

The DriveWell Messaging platform, according to CMT, will allow auto insurers, automakers, rideshare, fleet, wireless, and safety companies to automatically engage their customers at key moments in the customer lifecycle.

The platform offers automated engagement campaigns via SMS and push notifications. For example it will issue encouragement and safe driving points, sending a message to the driver to alert them when they have received points for safe driving and encourages them to continue driving safely.

Katherine Wellman, chief product officer for CMT, said, “CMT research shows that engaging people is critical for improving driving behaviours and ensuring they get the full benefits of a telematics programme. DriveWell Messaging helps our customers increase engagement by sending the right message to the right person at the right time.

“CMT has been laser-focused on the consumer experience from the very beginning, and our expertise and scale across millions of drivers around the world have enabled us to improve driving behaviours at an unprecedented level.”

Telematics is playing an increasing role in the auto insurance sector. Earlier this month, CMT teamed up with 1St CENTRAL, a provider of technology-enabled insurance services, to launch CENTRAL Connect, a telematics-based insurance product. The product provides 1st CENTRAL customers with safe driving discounts at renewal and guidance on making a claim if it detects a crash. Those with higher scores can be offered significant discounts at renewal.
