Insured Nomads, a global health and travel insurance provider, has acquired Peanut, a Google Chrome extension that helps travellers see important information about their destination.
Insured Nomads acquired the company for an undisclosed amount. The two companies first partnered back in December 2021 to provide embedded insurance offerings through Peanut’s extension.
Once a travel shopper adds Peanut’s free Google Chrome extension to their browser, the tool reveals travel and destination details as they search the web’s most popular travel sites for flights and hotels.
Peanuts aim is to simplify travel by collecting thousands of data points from around the web, distilling them into real-time insights.
It also helps travellers understand the insurance requirements for their destination. More than 20 countries require insurance policies to enter, according to Insured Nomads. By using Peanut, travellers can access quotes for insurance plans from Insured Nomads from almost any country in the world.
Brady Simpson, Peanut CEO, explained that the company developed its solution during the pandemic, “Having access to the right information and travel products, such as insurance, is vital to exploring the world or working remotely today. That’s why we created the tool during Covid-19.”
