• lemon.markets was the largest FinTech seed deal in Germany raising $16m in their seed round, led by Lakestar and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from N26 and Stripe. lemon.markets will use the funding to accelerate its product development, extending its usage to businesses that wish to integrate stock trading into their services. The brokerage infrastructure for stock trading consists of two core products. Their Trading API and Market Data API can be conveniently managed through their dashboard or mobile app.
• FinTech seed deal funding in Germany reached $151m across 39 deals in the first six months of the year, with the top ten companies making up $98.4m, or 67.8% of total seed funding. Germany’s leading FinTech hub, Berlin, is home to 70% of the top 10 startups and 44% of the total startups in H1 2022. In June 2022 the Berlin Finance Initiative (BFI) launched the transatlantic finance & tech network, “FinTech Leaders,” to accelerate internationalization and business cooperation between Berlin and US based startups and organizations. The initiative will support a qualification for interested startups for both markets via access to essential go-to-market information, workshops, events, and networking opportunities with relevant transatlantic partners.
