Leah Ramoutar joins Aviva to spearhead environmental initiatives

Aviva has welcomed the new dawn of environmental stewardship with the appointment of Leah Ramoutar as Environmental Sustainability Director.

Stepping into the role later this month, Ramoutar embodies a crucial element in amplifying Aviva’s sustained commitment to an ambitious climate and sustainability agenda.

Aviva has steadfastly positioned itself as a pillar in the insurance, wealth, and retirement sectors, embracing a critical role in championing environmental causes. Its intrinsic strategy harmonises economic and environmental facets, ensuring that sustainability isn’t simply an appendage but a core driver in every decision, product, and service. Aviva’s Client Centre of Excellence and Environment Hub are instrumental facets, acting as catalysts in delivering the company’s climate change and environmental agenda, to which Leah will play a pivotal role.

Leah Ramoutar doesn’t step into this role lightly. Her journey, spanning over 14 years at Phoenix Group with pivotal roles such as Head of Climate and Nature Risk and Head of TCFD & Group Sustainability Lead, arms her with an arsenal of experience and insights to navigate the intricate webs of environmental sustainability.

In her capacity as the Environmental Sustainability Director, Ramoutar will not only guide but also refine Aviva’s Client Centre of Excellence and Environment Hub, ensuring an unwavering trajectory towards climate change mitigation and environmental conservation.

The depth of Ramoutar’s experience is richly layered, serving over 20 years across various sectors including advisory, corporate finance, investment management, and sustainability. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, a testament to her deep-rooted understanding of the financial landscapes that intertwine with environmental sustainability. Her journey, spliced with a myriad of experiences, will undoubtedly sow seeds of innovative and effective sustainability practices at Aviva.

Prior to her pivotal role as the Head of Climate and Nature Risk, Ramoutar was at the helm of TCFD & Group Sustainability Lead at Phoenix. Her chronological ascendancy through various leadership roles is a testament to her capability, leadership, and the sheer impact of her initiatives in the realm of sustainability.
