ClearBank has announced the appointment of Jonny Fry as its Head of Digital Assets Strategy.
The company, which is a pioneer in real-time clearing and embedded banking solutions for financial institutions, has made the move in a bid to underline its commitment to the digital assets sector.
Fry will bring 25 years of experience to ClearBank’s leadership team, as well vast expertise in blockchain technology, making him a valuable asset.
Fry will be responsible for leading ClearBank Group’s digital asset strategy. His role involves collaborating closely with the leadership team to develop digital tools and infrastructure that meet the growing needs of digital asset companies. The increasing digitisation of various assets, from equities to real estate, is driving demand for more efficient digital payment solutions.
In other roles, he serves as Chairman at GemCap Ltd., which is the majority owner of a fund administration company regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland, and additionally, he is a non-executive director of TURN, a blockchain-powered reporting platform for the asset management industry.
ClearBank is known for its work with highly regulated, secure, and reputable firms in the digital asset sector, including industry giants like Coinbase. Unlike traditional banks, ClearBank focuses on providing digital asset companies with safeguarded accounts and access to payment rails like Faster Payments. This approach enhances the quality, functionality, and safety of the customer experience.
Jonny Fry, Head of Digital Assets Strategy at ClearBank, said, “I am delighted to be joining ClearBank and working with the bank to set the strategy and build the digital tools and infrastructure digital asset companies need to grow.
“The digitisation of loyalty programs, equities, debt instruments, real estate, funds, derivatives, FX and other assets means a growing demand for new digital payment solutions as organisations look to harness new technology to make payments faster and more efficient – while at the same time improving compliance standards and lowering risks. There are huge opportunities for forward-looking banks to provide the infrastructure to enhance fiat offerings and boost digital payment solutions.”
Charles McManus, Group CEO at ClearBank, said, “Jonny brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to ClearBank and will be pivotal in helping the business navigate the shifts we’re seeing in this dynamic and fast-moving area. Over the last year we’ve witnessed a flight to quality in the digital assets space. That is digital asset companies not only want the best technology and the best services, but a banking partner that can ensure they operate at the highest regulatory standards.”
