xUnlocked secures £5m for sustainability and finance learning platforms

xUnlocked, a UK education technology firm, has successfully raised £5m in a new funding round led by BPP Education Group.

The investment marks a significant partnership that will catalyze xUnlocked’s growth, including the recent launch of their Sustainability Unlocked platform, and bolster their commitment to high-quality customer experiences. This capital injection will expand xUnlocked’s specialized on-demand video education platforms, enhancing their offerings in sustainability and finance training.

xUnlocked, established in 2017 by entrepreneurs Henry White and Robert Ellison, stands out in the EdTech space for its specialized focus. The company has carved a niche in professional education through its two key platforms: Finance Unlocked and Sustainability Unlocked. These platforms deliver premium, on-demand content that tackles the increasing need for sustainable business practices and financial expertise, resonating with their B corp ethos.

The newly secured funds will be strategically deployed to broaden xUnlocked’s educational reach. The company plans to develop more specialized platforms, catering to a wider spectrum of professional learning needs in sectors beyond finance and sustainability.

The company has demonstrated a remarkable trajectory of growth, boasting a 350% average annual growth rate since its inception. The secret sauce to xUnlocked’s success lies in their proprietary technology and exceptional course production standards. Their content is not only curated in collaboration with over 200 global experts, including Nobel Laureates and industry leaders, but also boasts a commendable 93% average video completion rate, a testament to the compelling and interactive nature of their courses.

BPP’s CEO, Graham Gaddes, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, noting the increasing client demand for skills in ESG and Sustainability. He commended the cultural and mission alignment between BPP and xUnlocked, anticipating the enriched portfolio of programs that the partnership will bring.

Echoing this sentiment, xUnlocked CEO Henry White shared, “This investment and partnership with one of the most prominent and successful education institutions in the UK will allow us to accelerate our mission. Together, we will be introducing more specialised premium platforms to serve a greater audience of professional learners.”

Prior to this, xUnlocked has been self-sustaining, achieving significant growth and acclaim within the professional education sector.
