Zurich North America has announced the appointment of a new Chief Risk Officer amidst a senior leadership team shakeup.
The move will see Ann Chai take up the role of CRO, effective from January 16, succeeding Colleen Zitt, who returned to Zurich North America’s Finance team in the new role of Vice President of End-to-End Process Controls.
In her capacity as Chief Risk Officer, Chai will spearhead all aspects of Zurich North America’s Risk function.
This encompasses ensuring group-wide governance and risk management responsibilities, implementing risk policies, monitoring adherence, sponsoring projects contributing to global initiatives, and ensuring compliance with North America regulatory requirements.
Chai will be a vital member of Zurich’s global Leadership Team, the Risk Management Executive Committee, and Zurich North America’s Executive Committee.
Formerly the Head of Finance for U.S. Middle Market at Zurich, she brings over 20 years of financial and actuarial experience to her new role. In this position, she played a pivotal role in financial planning, metrics, and reporting, ensuring the delivery of underwriting results and effective expense management. Prior to that, she served as Vice President & Actuary for Zurich North America’s Finance & Actuarial team.
Reporting directly to Zurich Group Head of Risk, Peter Giger, Chai will be based at Zurich North America’s Schaumburg, Illinois headquarters.
Giger expressed confidence in Chai’s capabilities, stating, “With more than 20 years of financial and actuarial experience, and her proven leadership in U.S. Middle Market, Ann is the ideal person to lead the North America Risk function as we work to achieve our mission to embed a disciplined risk culture across the Zurich organisation.”
