Tietoevry advances restoration after ransomware

In the silent hours between January 19 and 20, Tietoevry, a prominent tech firm, confronted a formidable ransomware attack targeting one of its data centres in Sweden.

The company’s prompt response included the immediate isolation of the compromised platform, ensuring the attack was contained and did not infiltrate other segments of Tietoevry’s infrastructure.

The company’s focus has been unwavering: to safely and swiftly restore the impacted customer systems. This intricate, multi-stage process is not just about technical recovery; it’s a collaborative effort, deeply involving the customers affected by the incident. The recent days have witnessed commendable progress, a testament to the relentless efforts of Tietoevry’s dedicated team of experts and technicians, who are working around the clock.

However, the journey to recovery is not uniform. The specifics of each customer situation vary, influenced by factors such as the nature of the compromised solutions, the intricacies of customer-specific workloads, and the complexity involved in data restoration. A subset of these cases will necessitate additional, meticulously planned restoration actions, a process that Tietoevry is coordinating in close consultation with the respective customers.

Venke Bordal, the Head of Tietoevry Tech Services Sweden, expressed regret over the disruptions caused by this criminal act. “We regret the inconvenience caused by this criminal malicious attack on our customers and all those affected by it. We will continue to work 24/7 on this and will continue our close collaboration with the police and other authorities, to accommodate them in every possible way to support the investigation.”
