Chubb appoints industry veteran to senior leadership role

Chubb, a leading global provider of insurance products, has announced the appointment of Peter Kelaher as the division president for Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa.

Chubb, a leading global provider of insurance products, has announced the appointment of Peter Kelaher as the division president for Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa.

Kelaher has been tasked with the challenge of developing the company’s business across the respective domains – and he is expected to leverage his over two decades of experience in the field.

Currently serving as the country president of Australia and New Zealand, Kelaher will assume his new role effective 1 September 2024, subject to regulatory approval.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul McNamee, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, Overseas General Insurance, said, “Peter is a highly effective executive who has built substantial businesses, thoughtfully driving distribution, technology and product innovation in highly competitive markets. I have every confidence in his ability to lead our teams across Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa.”

Chubb operates as a major player in the insurance industry, offering a wide range of insurance products including property and casualty, accident and health, reinsurance, and life insurance.

The company is renowned for its extensive global reach and comprehensive insurance solutions.

Peter Kelaher brings over 20 years of experience in the insurance sector to his new position. He joined Chubb Australia in 2007 as a senior underwriter and has since held increasingly senior roles, culminating in his current role as country president for Australia and New Zealand.

Kelaher will be based in Paris and report to David Furby, senior vice president, Chubb Group and regional president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

David Furby, senior vice president, Chubb Group and regional president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “Peter brings more than 20 years of experience, including more than 15 years at Chubb, to this important role within the region,” said Furby. “He has played an important role in leading our growing commercial and consumer businesses in Australia and New Zealand. I look forward to working with him to continue the development of our business throughout Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa.”

Sara Mitchell, the current division president, will be leaving Chubb, making way for Kelaher to step into the role.
