QuantCube Technology unveils asset mapping database for enhanced ESG risk compliance

QuantCube Technology today unveiled its innovative Asset Mapping database, engineered to bridge the critical data gap faced by banks, insurance firms, asset managers, and corporations.

This timely solution is designed to enhance the ability of financial institutions to monitor the risk exposures of their physical assets and align with the European Banking Authority’s forthcoming Pillar 3 disclosures on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks, set to take effect in early 2025.

Employing sophisticated computer vision and big data analytics, QuantCube has developed the capability to analyze vast alternative data sources, including satellite and geolocation data. This advanced approach provides in-depth visibility into the physical asset portfolios of companies, tracking both direct and indirect ownership of over 1 million assets across more than 10,000 global companies. The database is pivotal for institutions aiming to assess and manage the ESG risk exposure of their investment portfolios at a detailed level.

Alice Froidevaux, Director of Product Development and CFA ESG at QuantCube Technology, said, “With the newly introduced Asset Mapping solution, users can access precise data on the location of companies’ physical assets. The database also provides a clear understanding of ownership structures through comprehensive analysis of both listed and non-listed companies. Combined with granular insights from satellite imagery and geolocation analysis, the Asset Mapping database significantly enhances the ability to monitor portfolio risk exposure, particularly from a macroeconomic and ESG perspective.”

QuantCube’s Asset Mapping database spans across 11 essential sectors including metals & mining, oil & gas, utilities, automotive, and more, employing Natural Language Processing (NLP) and graph theory to standardize and curate various types of raw and unstructured data associated with company assets. The result is a comprehensive and precise dataset that ensures accuracy in asset location, ownership details, and related activities.

Additionally, the database offers a detailed 3D view of buildings, providing metrics such as height and surface area, coupled with precise geolocation. This functionality allows asset owners and investors to assess potential risks to their properties from extreme weather events like droughts, floods, or wildfires. By applying physical risk models at the asset level and aggregating these results at the firm level, QuantCube guarantees that its assessments are both comparative and reliable across different assets and firms.
