The collaboration aims to drive innovation in the insurance industry by leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics, and generative AI, according to InsurTech Insights.

This partnership will focus on improving risk assessment, streamlining claims processing, and optimising customer segmentation, with the ultimate goal of enhancing client experiences.

Sun Life Global Solutions is a prominent global capability centre that supports the insurance and financial services sector through technology-driven solutions, delivering operational excellence and innovation.

IIT Indore, one of India’s top engineering and research institutions, is recognised for producing cutting-edge research and fostering talent in fields including data science and AI.

A significant element of this collaboration is providing IIT Indore students with practical exposure to data analysis, problem-solving, and industry applications.

Sun Life will share its expertise to facilitate the development of innovative algorithms and models. Students will also have opportunities for internships at Sun Life, enhancing their employability.

The partnership also aims to create a talent pipeline to address challenges in the insurance sector. By working closely with IIT Indore, Sun Life seeks to nurture a workforce skilled in emerging technologies and capable of navigating the evolving demands of the global capability centre (GCC) sector.

Professor Suhas S. Joshi, director of IIT Indore, emphasised the importance of collaboration in strengthening innovation and building a skilled workforce. He said: “The partnership is particularly important given the expanding influence of GCCs in India, which include a significant number of insurance and BFSI companies driving innovation, client excellence and technological progress.

“Working closely with GCCs like Sun Life Global Solutions can help strengthen the culture of innovation and build a strong talent pool to meet the industry’s future needs.”
