WatchGuard acquires ActZero to boost AI-driven MDR services

WatchGuard Technologies has announced its acquisition of ActZero, a distinguished provider of Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services.

This acquisition aims to refine and expand WatchGuard’s MDR services, offering enhanced, scalable, and AI-powered security solutions.

The primary motivation for this acquisition is to bolster WatchGuard’s ability to provide scalable and efficient MDR services round the clock. By integrating ActZero’s innovative AI-driven security solutions and expert teams, WatchGuard intends to extend its Unified Security Platform. This will not only enhance the scale and speed of its services but also bring operational efficiencies to Managed Service Providers (MSPs), solidifying WatchGuard’s position as a preferred vendor in the cybersecurity space.

WatchGuard Technologies has been at the forefront of cybersecurity, offering a wide range of solutions that protect against complex and evolving digital threats. Its services are designed to support MSPs by providing robust security measures that can be scaled as needed. ActZero, on the other hand, has carved a niche for itself by offering proactive and automated threat responses, utilizing cross-platform, AI-driven analyses to keep pace with threats at machine speed.

With the acquisition of ActZero, WatchGuard plans to enhance its MDR service capabilities across its entire portfolio and third-party security products. This expansion will allow for a broader partner base, helping MSPs to scale their services and confidence in adding more capabilities to their offerings.

The acquisition sees the integration of ActZero’s technology and teams into the WatchGuard MDR product line. Managed by a top-tier security team and powered by AI, ActZero’s service supports MSPs’ operational needs with scalable MDR capabilities, advanced platform tools, and an open architecture that encompasses WatchGuard’s and third-party services.

WatchGuard is committed to maintaining high service standards post-acquisition, ensuring that customers and partners continue to receive reliable and effective cybersecurity protection. The strategic alignment with ActZero is expected to further WatchGuard’s vision of delivering leading MDR services and simplifying cybersecurity management for MSPs.

WatchGuard Technologies CEO Prakash Panjwani said, “We realized the need to scale rapidly as we have gained traction throughout the year with our MDR service. The acquisition of ActZero allows WatchGuard to add capacity, scalability, and new technology that will enable our MDR service to expand to the full WatchGuard portfolio and third-party security products. With additional scale, we can handle a larger partner base efficiently, building confidence with our partners so they can easily add more services as we expand our MDR capabilities. ActZero has built its service with this kind of scaled customer experience in mind.”

Sameer Bhalotra, co-founder and CEO of ActZero, also added, “I’d like to thank and congratulate the entire ActZero team. By integrating with WatchGuard, the team’s efforts in creating an AI-powered MDR solution with expert analysis will expand worldwide and provide unmatched protection against cyber threats. I look forward to seeing all this team will accomplish with WatchGuard while continuing the company’s legacy of empowering MSPs with a powerful, unified MDR solution.”
