Pomelo, a pioneering FinTech company that combines consumer credit with international money transfers, has launched Pomelo Points, the industry’s first rewards program for remittance transactions.
The launch aims to enhance the remittance experience by providing additional value to customers who send money abroad, according to FF News.
The program allows users to earn points on their transfers, which can be redeemed for various rewards, making the process more rewarding and financially beneficial.
Pomelo is known for its innovative approach to international money transfers, offering services that blend credit-building with remittances. The company provides a seamless and secure platform for cross-border transactions, helping customers support their families while also improving their financial health.
The newly introduced Pomelo Points program allows customers to accumulate points with each transfer to the Philippines. These points can be converted into digital gift codes for services such as ride-hailing and food delivery, thanks to Pomelo’s partnership with Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading super-app. Customers earn one point for every dollar sent using a debit card and two points per dollar when using their Pomelo Mastercard®.
This latest innovation builds on Pomelo’s existing remittance offerings, including the only “send now, pay later” service for international transfers, a unique credit-building solution linked to remittances, and one of the most secure bank transfer services in the market.
Pomelo Points is currently available to all customers sending money to the Philippines, with plans for expansion to other regions throughout 2025.
Pomelo founder and CEO Eric Velasquez Frenkiel said, “Today marks another industry first – we’re introducing the only points program in remittance. By combining zero-fee transfers with the ability to earn points, we’re helping customers send extra joy to their loved ones, all while building their financial future.”
