DataSnipper and Microsoft have announced a new collaboration aimed at bringing AI agents into audit and finance workflows.
The partnership will see the two companies jointly develop agentic AI solutions that enhance how professionals in these sectors operate. Designed as digital teammates rather than mere tools, the AI agents will be tailored to the unique demands of auditing, streamlining repetitive tasks and accelerating document reviews.
These in-development agents will be embedded directly into audit workflows via Microsoft Azure, forming a core part of DataSnipper’s intelligent automation platform. The integration will allow audit and finance teams to ask questions mid-workflow and receive real-time responses, significantly cutting down manual effort.
DataSnipper CEO Vidya Peters said, “The promise of AI agents in audit and finance is immense and we’re incredibly excited about what we’re building together with Microsoft. This will be a major leap forward in the future of agentic AI for the sector, elevating how regulated teams think, work, and deliver.”
One of the first agents being developed will integrate directly into Excel, the foundational tool of many audit and finance professionals. These agents will run as an additional layer across existing DataSnipper features, responding to complex audit queries such as identifying relevant SOC2 evidence or flagging high-risk documents for additional scrutiny.
DataSnipper vice president of product & engineering Thilo Richter said, “As the ecosystem of agentic commerce execution evolves, software development must evolve with it. With DataSnipper Agents running on Azure, we want to empower auditors with agents that work alongside them to automate critical audit tasks.”
Momentum is clearly building for AI-driven solutions. According to DataSnipper, 58% of its new customers now opt for packages that include AI capabilities. The demand for intelligent automation is rising as audit teams seek tools that not only speed up reviews but also ensure compliance.
Microsoft cloud & AI director for startups in EMEA Adir Ron said, “This new partnership announcement with DataSnipper reflects our commitment to delivering specialized AI solutions that drive productivity and intelligent automation in complex, high-trust environments. By joining forces and leveraging the strength of Microsoft Azure, we are enabling a new class of AI agents that streamline critical audit processes, integrate naturally into enterprise workflows
Recent findings from DataSnipper’s 2025 AI in Audit & Finance report underscore the industry-wide shift. The report shows that 78% of audit and finance professionals now trust AI tools—up from 74% just two years ago. Informal adoption is also widespread, with 66% of respondents reporting that at least half of their colleagues use AI tools, even without formal approval. In addition, 86% said they would remain longer at companies that offer robust AI support, and 91% expect AI use to grow significantly in the near future.
