Axiom Security joins Okta to expand privileged access security

Okta

Okta, an identity and access management provider, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Axiom Security, a modern identity-centric PAM solution built for cloud, SaaS, and database environments.

The acquisition will enhance Okta’s ability to provide unified privileged access controls across critical resources and address rising security risks as enterprises increasingly integrate AI into their operations. The value of the deal was not disclosed, with the transaction expected to close in September.

Okta offers solutions that secure user authentication, protect against security breaches, and simplify IT management across applications and devices. Axiom Security, founded by Itay Mesika and Ilan Dardik in Tel Aviv, Israel, delivers a cloud-native PAM platform that eliminates standing privileges, providing Just-in-Time access, automated workflows, and user access reviews to safeguard critical infrastructure without compromising productivity.

The integration of Axiom’s capabilities will strengthen Okta Privileged Access, enabling customers to manage both human and non-human identities across on-premises and multi-cloud infrastructures through a single control plane. Planned enhancements include automated Just-in-Time access to platforms like GitHub and Snowflake, deeper coverage for Kubernetes and database environments, and AI-powered connectors for broader integration.

Okta highlighted that only 10% of organisations have a developed strategy for managing non-human identities, such as AI agents, leaving significant gaps in visibility, compliance, and security. By combining forces with Axiom, Okta aims to tackle these challenges with its identity security fabric approach, ensuring end-to-end protection for every identity type and use case.

Okta said the acquisition will allow organisations to secure privileged access across modern infrastructures while automating compliance and reducing risk in the AI era.
