ZestyAI, the AI-powered property risk analytics provider, has added mitigation-aware scoring to its Severe Convective Storm (SCS) risk suite, enabling insurers to instantly adjust risk scores based on property improvements.
The enhancement allows carriers to reflect mitigation measures such as roof upgrades, structural improvements, and corrected property data, improving rating accuracy and customer satisfaction.
It also enables insurers to simulate the impact of proposed upgrades, helping agents and homeowners understand the value of risk-reducing actions before they are completed.
ZestyAI co-founder and chief product officer Kumar Dhuvur said, “Models should be powerful, but also flexible and responsive to real-world improvements. By giving carriers the ability to incorporate mitigation and field data into model outputs, we’re supporting transparent, action-oriented risk management that benefits both insurers and homeowners.”
The functionality is already in use in ZestyAI’s wildfire products, including Z-FIRE™ and Compliance Pre-Fill, where carriers can reflect mitigation steps such as defensible space and Class A roofs. Extending this capability to the SCS suite ensures a consistent, carrier-controlled approach across perils.
Integrated into the ZestyAI platform, the capability supports use cases such as inspection workflows, underwriting decisions, and rating accuracy. ZestyAI’s storm models—Z-HAIL™, Z-WIND™, and Z-STORM™—are based on real-world claims data and property-specific features. They are approved for use in over 20 states across the Great Plains, Midwest, and U.S. South, where severe convective storms are most frequent.
