Visa, a global digital payments leader offering card, mobile and online transaction solutions, has launched its new Visa Scan to Pay service across Asia Pacific.
The rollout aims to widen digital payment acceptance throughout the Asia Pacific region, enabling millions of merchants to accept Visa-linked QR payments and giving consumers more choice and flexibility when transacting locally or abroad, according to FF News.
Visa facilitates secure electronic payments worldwide, connecting consumers, merchants, financial institutions and governments through its global network.
The firm provides tools and infrastructure enabling card transactions, mobile payments and digital commerce for both in-store and online environments.
Visa Scan to Pay enables consumers to pay by scanning QR codes through participating digital wallets and banking apps. The solution supports seamless global transactions, allowing users to tap, scan or pay online with their preferred digital payment method.
The expansion forms part of the broader Visa Pay service, which links participating digital wallets to Visa-accepting merchants globally.
Visa Scan to Pay is powered by partnerships with a range of digital wallets and apps including Samsung Wallet, LINE Pay, VNPT Money, Woori Card and Hyundai Card, and QR providers such as Lakala, FOMO Pay (Singapore), VNPAY (Vietnam), NextPay (Vietnam) and OpenRice.
The solution enhances both consumer convenience and merchant acceptance, supporting streamlined operations and lower processing costs.
For consumers, Visa said the solution provides a harmonised global experience, improved convenience and strengthened security backed by the firm’s trusted network.
For merchants, the service delivers broader acceptance capabilities, access to customers using foreign digital wallets, and opportunities for business growth through improved engagement and expanded market reach.
Visa highlighted that the rollout underscores its commitment to supporting market-specific needs and fostering digital payment adoption across the region.
Visa head of products and solutions, Asia Pacific, T.R. Ramachandran said, “As commerce across Asia Pacific becomes increasingly mobile-first, Visa is leading the way with innovations like Scan to Pay that accelerate QR payment adoption. By enabling millions of merchants to accept secure, seamless payments by tapping or scanning, we’re not only expanding digital acceptance but also empowering consumers with more flexible ways to pay – anytime, anywhere.”
