Seismic warns UK firms risk exodus with new wealth report

Seismic, a global provider of sales enablement and digital engagement platforms for financial services firms, has released new data highlighting critical gaps within the UK’s wealth sector.

The company has published its 2025 State of Wealth Management Report in response to growing concern that the UK’s wealth managers are unprepared for the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history and are losing high-net-worth clients at unprecedented speed.

According to the report’s findings, 45% of UK wealth managers still rely on manual workflows, well above the European average. Nearly half of firms, at 48%, cite budget constraints as the biggest barrier to transformation, while only 55% describe their current AI initiatives as “very effective”, with progress hampered by limited pilots rather than full-scale deployment.

The report contextualises these challenges against a backdrop of significant capital flight. By the end of 2025, an estimated 16,500 millionaires are expected to leave the UK, taking more than £90bn in investable assets abroad.

While headlines often attribute this to Brexit and economic stagnation, Seismic’s data suggests the deeper issue lies in the sector’s inability to modernise. Only 57% of UK firms say they are ready to serve Millennial and Gen Z clients—the lowest figure across Europe. Meanwhile, global competitors in the US and Europe are accelerating digital-first strategies, widening the gap and threatening the UK’s historical leadership in wealth management.

Seismic international financial services marketing director Gemma Livermore said, “This is an existential threat to relevance. The risk extends beyond individual firms losing clients. If the UK can’t properly serve the high-net-worth individuals already here, why would wealthy newcomers choose London over other wealth hubs like Dubai, Singapore, or Zurich?”
